| The judges, Prof. Jo-Marie Claassen, Dr. Annemaré Kotzé and Dr. Maridien Schneider, were unanimous in their praise of the excellent quality of the entries. They again wished that they could have given each entrant a prize. The master of ceremonies, Prof. Jo-Marie Claassen, stressed that the teachers of the participating schools (Mrs. Jo Slater of Rustenburg Girls' High, Mrs. Minette Visagie of Paarl Boys' High, Mrs. Avril Dawson of the South African College School (SACS) and Mr. Ian Rutter of the combined Stellenbosch schools) were to be congratulated on the quality of their teaching as well as the creativity of the learners under their inspiring guidance. The learners themselves were congratulated on having chosen to take Latin, thereby giving themselves a head start in life which few of their colleagues enjoy. |
