The Durban campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal is here
shown in the foreground. This is known as the Howard College campus, named
after the building bequeathed to the university by the
Howard family as a memorial to their son, who died in World War I.
This building is adjacent to the Memorial Tower Building
(try the hotspots in this image) commemorating those who fought and died in
World War II. . Durban is built around one of the few natural harbours in South Africa. The bay is marked by the bluff (top right) and the point (top left with hotels for the tourist industry). Durban is one of the most popular holiday resorts in the country. Popular sports include surfing and big-game fishing. |
